HPB Presents: Beach Nails

*Nothing to disclose*

Hi guys! Summer has taken up residence in South Carolina, and I'm not too happy about it. I'm more more of a Fall weather girl! The highs this week are going to be 99... all week. I am going to melt! I just hope this is just an anomaly, and not an indication of how warm July/August are going to be!

For June, the Hobby Polish Bloggers selected the theme of beach nails. Each blogger can interpret the theme however they choose - whether it is nail art or simply a beachy polish. My nail art skills are no where near as awesome as some of the ladies in the group, but I do like trying, and I use these link-ups to challenge myself to be a little more outside my comfort zone. Plus, I can't get better if I don't try!  I wanted to be a little different and instead of doing a beach scene, I deconstructed the look a bit, and made each nail a separate part of the scene.

Towel Day nail art

*Nothing to Disclose*

Happy Memorial Day (or Monday to those of you outside of the US)! In addition to Memorial Day, it is also Geek Pride Day and Towel Day! What is Towel Day, you might ask? Towel Day is an annual tribute celebration of Douglas Adams, the author of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I couldn't let the day pass without some nail art for the occasion.

Gradient using Lucky 13 Lacquer "Flops"

*Purchased by Me*

This is going to be short and sweet because I am dealing with a kitty that doesn't feel well. If you follow me on Instagram, you have seen our little monkey cat. We took him to the vet on Sunday, and then again today. If he's not better by Saturday, we have to take him back. We have to give him subq fluids for the next two days, and do lots of hoping and praying every time we check his litter box. So far, I've only watched the vet give him the fluids, so I haven't had to do it myself yet. I'm nervous but it has to be done. I'll do anything for that lil' kitty!

Okay, so on to my nails... I've got a quick gradient that I did with a couple of "flops" that I've recently purchased from Lucky 13 Lacquer. Sometimes the "flops" aren't what she had in mind, or just aren't up to full release standards... but they are always gorgeous! I picked up several during the latest flop restock, and as soon as I looked at Fire Opal (red-orange) and Citrine (mustard yellow), I saw a gorgeous gradient in the making!

HPB Presents April Showers

*Nothing to Disclose*

The past couple of days here in South Carolina have been very rainy. I think it's been raining the entire week! The other day, my husband was complaining that he hadn't seen the sun in forever, and I reminded him that April showers bring May flowers! With all the rain, this month's theme for the Hobby Polish Bloggers link-up is really appropriate!

HPB Presents St. Patrick's Day

*Nothing to Disclose*

Hi guys! I hope you're wearing your GREEN today! I love St. Patrick's Day, but I wish my favorite Irish pub wasn't so busy! I want to go out! Instead, we'll be having corned beef and potatoes at home! I really wanted to get this post up yesterday, but yeah... that didn't work out!

The Hobby Polish Bloggers is Facebook group that I belong to, along with other polish bloggers. We have had several other link-ups - Halloween, Fall Favorites, Christmas, Valentine's Day, etc. It is time for our next one, and it revolves around St. Patrick's Day!

I did not want an overwhelming green manicure, but I wanted a touch of green.  I used Sinful Colors Happy Ending on my index and middle fingers.

On my ring finger, I started with a base of Zoya Blu, and proceeded to create a rainbow using OPI I Red My Fortune Cookie, Julep Marjorie, Zoya Darcy,Sinful Colors Exotic Green, Julep Linden, and a Love & Beauty Purple. After the rainbow dried, I topped it off with China Glaze Fairy Dust. At the base of the rainbow, I hinted at the pot of gold beneath the rainbow using Julep Tazeen.

I used OPI Honey Ryder on my pinkie, and I did not think it looked enough like gold.  So I added Julep Tazeen, and it looked more the way that I had envisioned it.

HPB Presents Valentine's Day

*Nothing to Disclose*

The Hobby Polish Bloggers are at it again, and this time we are bringing you Valentine's Day nails! I hope you all have a special day, either with friends, children, or significant other! Due to some family issues, Valentine's Day has been put on hold for me and my husband.  We will wait until later this month, and go out to a nice dinner.

When trying to decide what to do for my nails, I knew that I wanted it to be fairly girly. I wanted to try out some of my stamp plates, but I need a bit more practice before I showcase that on here!  I ended up deciding on a skittle mani.

Halloween Nail Art: Friday the 13th!

*Nothing to Disclose*

Greetings!  Happy Thursday to everyone!

I have to admit something about my nails today.  I'm the world's biggest chicken, so I avoid horror movies at all costs.  I can scare myself just as easily with my overactive imagination.  I wasn't always such a scaredy-cat; when I was in high school, I absolutely loved the movie, IT.  My sister, my best friend, and I would watch it almost every week to the point we could recite the movie!  But I've never seen any of the Friday the 13th movies.  Just too scary for me!  But perfect for some Halloween nails!

Halloween Nail Art: Mummies!

*Nothing to Disclose*

Greetings!  It's Halloween week!  Halloween was one of my favorite times of the year growing up.  I loved getting to dress in costumes and go trick-or-treating!  As an adult, I still enjoy Halloween, but just not to the same extent as a kid.  I don't like being scared/terrified, so most of the Halloween events (like haunted houses) just aren't my thing.  To help get me in the Halloween mood, I'm going to be doing Halloween nail art all this week!

For the nail art this week, I wanted to do nail art looks that could be easily done by anyone.  My nail art skills are very much beginner, and I usually shy away from doing them because of that.  But practice makes perfect!  I also wanted to show that you don't need lots and lots of polishes to do nail art.  I tried to stick to just a few basic colors for all the looks.  I know not everyone is a nail polish addict!

First up this week is Mummies!

HPB October Halloween Mani Link-Up!

*Nothing to Disclose*

Greetings!  I am a member of an amazing group of nail polish bloggers on Facebook called Hobby Polish Bloggers.  It's a place where casual or "as a hobby" nail bloggers could come together with other like-minded bloggers.  HPB is a place to hang out, ask questions, and just have fun! The amount of talent in this group is amazing, and there's bloggers of all sizes in it - from microbloggers to some bigger bloggers that I looked up to as I was getting into nail polish.  This group, and their support, was instrumental in me getting the confidence to start this blog!

The group had been discussing doing monthly collaborations, and what better one to start with than a Halloween nail art?!  I had planned to do a week of nail art for Halloween so this is a great lead-in to it!

I wanted to find Halloween nail art ideas that weren't too difficult because well, my nail art skills are very much in the beginner category! Today, I went with Sugar Skulls.  They are bright and colorful, yet still a lil bit spooky!

I like this look can be created from polish colors that most people already have, and no nail art tools if you didn't have them.  I used a small art brush and dotting tool, but a toothpick and bobby pin would work too! The polishes that I used were: OPI Alpine Snow, OPI Hey Baby, Sally Hansen Green with Envy, Sally Hansen Sun Kissed, Sally Hansen Violet Voltage, and Zoya Raven.

Be sure to check out the other fabulous looks from my fellow Hobby Polish Bloggers below!

So what is going to be on your nails next week?  Be sure to check out my blog each day for ideas!

Until next time,
